Care and Materials Guide

Linen and cotton

Wash linen and cotton on a cool or warm cycle with a mild detergent. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibres, and line dry or tumble dry on low. Linen softens with every wash, so a little creasing is part of its character.

Stoneware and enamel

Our stoneware is dishwasher safe, but hand washing keeps the glaze looking new for longer. Avoid sudden temperature changes such as pouring boiling water into a cold mug. Enamel mugs can chip if dropped, so store them upright.

Wood

Wipe maple, ash, cedar and walnut pieces with a damp cloth and dry them straight away. Never soak wood or put it in the dishwasher. Rub in a food-safe mineral oil every few weeks to stop the grain drying out.

Brass and cast iron

Brass develops a warm patina over time. If you prefer a bright finish, polish it with a soft cloth and a little brass cleaner. Keep cast iron dry and lightly oiled to prevent rust.
